JESUS' LAST WORDS

"Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."

Luke 23:34

1. “Father, FORGIVE THEM”

Jesus wants us to learn to forgive those who might treat us bad. If someone does something to me that I don’t like, I have to forgive them. Jesus wants you to always have a forgiving heart.

2. “… behold your mother”

Jesus’ mother was very sad because Jesus was going to die. So Jesus says to his friend John, “… behold your mother.” This means that Jesus asks John to take care of his mother. Jesus teaches us that we have to HONOR our parents. We honor our parents when we are obedient, when we behave well, we don’t yell at others, we don’t lie, we don’t push or hit others… our parents are happy when we are good kids.

3. “… why have you abandoned me”

There was a moment on the cross when Jesus felt lonely. At that moment Jesus felt that ALL THE SIN IN THE WORLD was placed on him. He felt lonely, his heart ached. This is what Jesus did for you, for all humanity. Now when you feel alone, when your heart is sad, remember that Jesus loves you and wants you to give him all sadness and all pain to him. Jesus died so that you would be happy, to be our friend forever and that is why we will NEVER feel abandoned. If Jesus is with us, we will be fine!

Say this prayer...

Jesus, thank you for this time that I am learning about what you did in the cross for me. Help me remember in times when I feel alone that YOU ARE WITH ME, that you want me to tell you how I feel, that you want me to give to you all sadness and that your presence with me will make me feel better. Thank you for your sacrifice. I love you. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
