Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
Mark 9:23
For many years God had promised Israel that a baby, a Savior, was to be born.
There was a man named Simeon, he loved God, followed him with all his heart and prayed to God through the Holy Spirit. Simeon wanted to see the promise, he wanted to get to see that baby. As Simeon prayed to God, the Holy Spirit told him that the time was coming when he would meet the Savior of the world, Jesus.
Not many people knew when Jesus was to be born. During those times there was no internet, nor did the mail arrive so fast. So God used angels and the Holy Spirit to announce the birth of Jesus. And since Simeon was a man who prayed a lot, God told him a little after the birth of Jesus, that Jesus was alive.
One day, God told Simeon to go to church. When Simeon arrived at the church, there was Mary and Joseph who had taken the baby Jesus to dedicate him to God. Simeon recognized baby Jesus because he was being led by the Holy Spirit. Simeon took Jesus in his arms and thanked God for the opportunity to see with his own eyes the Savior of the world, for being able to see the promise of God fulfilled. Simeon was already very old and when he saw Jesus he felt a peace, he felt that his greatest wish in all his life had just been fulfilled.
In the church there was also an 84-year-old woman named Anna. Anna worshiped, fasted, and prayed every day at the church and spoke to God through the Holy Spirit just like Simeon and she was also waiting for the promise to see the baby. When she saw the baby Jesus, Anna thanked and worshiped God for being able to see the Savior of the world.
The Bible says that if we believe in something that we may not see at the present time, but we still believe that we will eventually see it in the future, that God will make it possible. Just like Simeon and Anna, although they had not seen the baby, they continued to believe that the day would come when their eyes would see him. God kept his promise.
There are so many promises for us from God written in the Bible. That is why it is so important for us to read the Word of God. And not just read, but also pray for guidance. God keeps, fulfills his promises. He has many for you, are you willing to get to know those promises?
(You can find the story of Simeon and Anna in Luke 2: 21-38)

Lord Jesus, thank you for coming to this world that so desperately needed you. Thank you for teaching me through Simeon and Anna that you are a God that keeps his promises. May I learn and seek your promises that are already in your Word (Bible) and learn to listen to the Holy Spirit so he can be my guide just like he guided Simeon and Anna. Please help me Holy Spirit, guide me in the right direction. I love you Jesus, amen.
