John the Baptist (10-13)

Worship Time

Lesson

"John answered them all, “I baptize you with[a] water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."

Luke 3:16

John the Baptist took the decision to announce to the people that a Savior was coming, that someone much more important and greater than him was coming. John the Baptist dedicated his life to tell people to ask God for forgiveness for their sins and start living a life that pleased God.

John the Baptist was shocked when he realized that Jesus was the Savior that he had been telling people all this time…and it was finally happening! He was even more surprised when Jesus asked him to baptize him. He did not feel worthy enough to do so, but Jesus believed in him. Baptizing Jesus was perhaps John the Baptists greatest accomplishment in his life.

We all need to make a decision is whether to tell people about Jesus or will be stay quiet about Jesus. John the Baptist decided to announce to everyone that there was a Savior! Are you up to the challenge to announce to your friends that Jesus is the answer to their problems? Because He truly is. But how can we announce to people about Jesus? We can show Jesus to people through the way that we are! By the way that we act, the way that we talk, the way that we treat others. Others will see that there’s something different IN US, about US…and that is because Jesus lives inside of us.

Questions:

How was John the Baptist related to Jesus?

What did John think he was not worthy of?

What are two ways that we announce Jesus to others?

What is a baptism?

Repeat this Prayer:

Lord Jesus, please help us be like John and speak your word to all people. Help me share your love and truth to others. Thank you because you live in us through the Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
